So in 2012 José Andrés went to Monterrey
to renew his Visa with his parents. It started as a normal day but it was
followed by unexpected events, all of them in just one day. They were leaving
Monterrey but the car started heating, they head over to a gas station to put
some cold water on it. After that that they were on the road again, José was
either playing with his Nintendo or enjoying the view of the tall mountains.
Some minutes later the car heated again but now it didn´t turn on, so they
stood by the side of the road for about 7 minutes when a pickup truck
specialized in road accidents came by and helped them. They are called
"Angeles Verdes" and their job is to look for people that need help.
After that they were on the road again a
little bit less nervous than before. "Next time let´s bring the other
car," José´s dad said, since that car has failed previously, however not
on this magnitude. Time went on and the car kept having problems so they
stopped in Paila, Coahuila near a restaurant known for its delicious and unique
bread. They decided it was time to call a crane that could take them to Torreón
safe and sound. They waited inside the restaurant, they each ordered a soda and
then they talked for an hour until the crane arrived. I should probably mention
that José´s Godfather offered to come all the way down there to pick them up,
but José´s dad had already called the crane. The crane was yellow, it was the
first time José had traveled in a crane. So they locked in their car in the
back and continued their trip. All of this happened at night by the way, I
forgot to mention that, so it made it all more creepy. The light that was
emitted from the crane was a dim light, so it just covered a medium size portion
of the terrain ahead of them.
Minutes later a cow was in the middle of
the road, so they all stopped instantly and then they had to drove around the
cow. Finally they were in Torreón and just as they thought they wouldn´t have to
face another challenge the crane driver decided to go through another path that
was isolated. He said that the path saved him some gasoline so he took it. At
the end of the day they all got home, very exhausted from that odyssey. You
never know what is going to happen, everything is a surprise.
